Animal-assisted work
Animal-assisted therapy and activities have been part of the Smiths Meadow imagination for years. A future form could involve clinical partners, education, recovery work, trained animals, provider support, or a much smaller role than any of those.
Recovery and useful responsibility
Addiction treatment and recovery are especially meaningful areas of exploration. Animals, land, productive work, peer relationships, professional therapy, and time outdoors may each contribute differently for different people. None needs to be treated as a universal answer.
Education and community
People can come to a farm to learn where food comes from, how systems fit together, how to care for animals, how to grow things, or simply how to notice a landscape more carefully. Education can be formal or incidental.
